The British Pullman, A Belmond Train

For a postponed 30th birthday present, we stepped back in time to a golden age of travel aboard beautifully restored art deco carriages with polished marquetry and plush textiles and brass luggage racks and silken lampshades. As we departed from London Victoria we settled into our deep arm chairs, glass of chilled champagne in hand, excited for our round-trip journey ahead. We escaped London into the Kent countryside, the route taking us to Dover via Canterbury.  Our 5 hours aboard the British Pullman were incredibly relaxing and enjoyable as life really slowed down in those few hours while we gazed out at the vistas and savoured a long 5-course lunch with specially selected wines. A real treat!
