One of my 2023 resolutions was to do a woodworking project. In March I signed up and did a woodworking tasting evening at the London school of furniture making to kick start this resolution. But it was not until July that I had a rare free weekend to actually do a project – our potting table for the garden.
After finding good plans and buying the wood online, I hired a circular saw from the Merton Library of things and was finally able to put into action the woodworking table and my jig saw I was gifted at Christmas. What started out a solo project evolved into my partner and I building the table together, quality time together we really enjoyed. After sawing wood, building and finishing the potting table I honestly felt amazing afterwards. Like I could do anything!
After our first successful joint woodworking project we’re now planning to challenge ourselves further and build a bbq and seating area at the back of our garden – one of our 2024 resolutions!
Our weekend was not out and about enjoying or escaping the city, but out in and enjoying our back garden. Something we also plan to do more of in 2024, especially after our garden project!
