What?
My first visit to Italy! Specifically to the boot, Puglia. A trip of three parts: exploring the main towns and cities of the region, a rural villa with friends and a beautiful wedding. We drank good wine and ate great food – Primitivo, orecchiette pasta, pizza and lots of Taralli…
Bari
Highlights: Seeing Nonas making orecchiette, the pasta of the Puglia, in the streets of the old town. Cioccolato fondente (dark chocolate) gelato.
Polignano a Mare
Highlights: Having the famous Lama Monachile beach to ourself for a morning swim between the cliffs of the spectacular coastline of Polignano a Mare, followed by my first coffee (albeit a latte macchiato) with Cornetto (the Italian croissant) for breakfast.
Monopoli
Highlights: Exploring the old town. Sunbathing on the boulders and paddle boarding in the crystal clear water in Cala Porta Vecchia, a small bay in the heart of the old town.
Ostuni
Highlights: Wandering up and through the streets of this incredible White City. Siping on wine and grazing on amazing platters of meats, cheese and olives at the top of the
Villa
Highlights: Time with friends, BBQs, games of cheat.
Wedding
Highlights: Being part of this special, beautiful day and celebrating with friends. But also the tomatoes at breakfast and the knotted balls of fresh, warm Mozerrella… one of the best things I’ve ever eaten!
