What?

Yayoi Kusama is a famous Japanese artists. Her work has had a revival since the 1990s and millennium, when Kusama was in her 60s and 70s, and she is now one of the most visited of any living artist. Before this and for most of her life, she was a struggling artist living in New York where she expressed she suffered with, and continues to suffer with, poor mental health. For the past 45 years since moving back to Japan with ill health in 1973, Kusama voluntarily lives in a psychiatric asylum in Tokyo where she continues to live and work to this day.

After watching an interesting BBC4 documentary one weekday evening on the life and work of Yayoi Kusama we booked tickets to see her art exhibition Infinity Mirror Rooms at the Tate modern. Being as popular as it is, when we tried to book tickets in February we could only get tickets six months in advance! But it was well worth the wait. As always, no filters have been applied to the photos!

How?

We booked tickets online months in advance via the Tate modern website.

How long?

The exhibition didn’t actually take that long, around 30-45 minutes.

How much?

Tickets were £20 each and the tube was £3. A very budget friendly outing!
